Rays split the dawn in half, ships wait silent and still

A fog breach, quay and land, sword sharp ready to kill

Grass froze, bleeding rose, ground filled with that of the dead

Blade strikes, severed eyes, laying out his final bed

Blood spilt on stone, soaked into the clay

Flesh and steel slowly decay

Taken to the hall of the slain

Tales told of arches gold, stone walls, praise in the air

Of ale strong, feasts so long, wealth in plentiful share

Of brothers gone, who’s time were drawn, laughing into the night

Fathers bfore who died at war, as youth not their final plight
